Quintessential Painter and Crochet Artist

Biography

Adewole Oluwadamilola is a contemporary Nigerian painter and crochet artist whose practice recontextualizes the intersection of textile art and figurative painting. Her work is deeply rooted in the exploration of human fragility and the pursuit of wholeness. Inspired by pointillism, Adewole developed a signature "pixelated" style, utilizing multi-strand acrylic yarns to create intricate tapestry crochet portraits that challenge the boundaries of traditional media. Her current body of work explores floral surrealism, housing poetic portraits of African women within bold, metaphorical floral forms.  By crocheting with multiple threads simultaneously, she creates a physical manifestation of the coexistence of contrasting realities like fragility and strength, mortality and eternity. A recipient of the "Best in Textile Category" (Zaria Region) at the 2025 Life In My City Art Festival (LIMCAF), Adewole has exhibited at venues such as Thought Pyramid, Abuja and is currently a resident at Rele Art  Foundation Young Contemporaries, Ekiti.
